Toujours la tête dans les nuages, rêvant de grands voyages et de marine à voile, féru de poésie et de chevalerie, le petit Jacques grandit à l’aube du XXe siècle.
Deux rencontres vont sceller le destin de ce jeune élève, turbulent et artiste, d’un collège jésuite : d’abord sa rencontre avec Jésus, qui guidera son chemin spirituel, puis sa rencontre avec Baden-Powell, l’inventeur du scoutisme en Angleterre.
Jacques Sevin sera aux origines du scoutisme catholique en France. Il contribuera ensuite à la création de la congrégation des Sœurs de la Sainte-Croix de Jérusalem. Mais pour cet apôtre d’un nouveau genre, faire valoir sa vision d’avenir ne se fera pas sans heurts…
