Notre histoire
L’histoire de la Compagnie de Jésus (les jésuites) débute au XVI° siècle, à une époque qui ressemble fortement à la notre : de grandes découvertes (l’Amérique), de grandes tensions internationales (entre l’Occident et l’empire Ottoman), une explosion de la communication grâce à l’avènement de l’imprimerie, de violentes querelles religieuses (la réforme de Luther est condamné en 1520) et l’avènement de l’individu.
Partie de Paris et Rome, la Compagnie va rapidement s’étendre aux quatre coins du monde pour une « plus grande gloire de Dieu » (Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam).
